WeGo Kayaking Tours is a small family owned kayaking Tour Company based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. We take our commitment to environmental responsibility very seriously. We believe that as our employees develop and improve, so does our company. By assisting our guides improve their skills and training, we can assure our valued customers, of a high quality kayaking experience with the best guides in the industry. Professional Development Policy (Pro-D) All staff employed by WeGo Kayaking for two or more consecutive years are eligible for Pro-D. For eligible staff, WeGo Kayaking will pay up to half of any fees for ongoing training and professional development related to their employment at WeGo Kayaking Expeditions. In order to qualify for Pro-D dollars, employees must have registered in and completed the courses for which they are being sponsored. All Pro-D rebates come directly from the Pro-D fund and will be paid upon completion of the training. Incomplete or unattended courses will not be reimbursed. All courses must be pre-approved by the management prior to enrollment to qualify. |

Lead Kayak Guide
Title: Lead Kayaking Guide
Reports to: Expeditions Director
Based at:
- Haida Way Inn, Port McNeill, BC
- Pacific Orca Lodge on Swanson Island
- Maggy Point Base Camp on Crease Island
- Hanson HideAway Base Camp on Hanson Island
Purpose: To lead the companies expeditions and take responsibility for the operations in the field including customer service, client care and expedition preparation.
Duties and Tasks (responsible for but not limited to):
- Lead expeditions and take responsibility for operations in the field.
- Conduct pre trip client briefing meetings (Sun evenings in Port McNeill).
- Conduct camp/lodge orientations (Mon, Wed, Fri).
- Plan food requirements according to client’s needs and menus.
- Food preparation, clean up and general cleaning.
- Plan daily kayak routes and discus pending operations with assistant.
- Conduct daily client briefings on kayak routes and points of interest.
- Daily communication with Expeditions Director (via cell phone at 8pm)
- Daily communication with lodge and other camps (via cell phone or VHF at 7pm)
- Camp/lodge security: Overnight stock protection and securing equipment.
- Conduct ‘departing site inventory checks’ for the Support Guides restocking duties
- Safety at camp sites/lodge.
- Safety on the water
- Client care
Compensation:
- Wages start based on current industry standard and the final wages are determined based on experience and other factors discussed during the interview process.
Assistant Kayak Guide
Title: Assistant Kayaking Guide
Reports to: Expeditions Director (On trip – Designated Lead Guide)
Based at:
- Haida Way Inn, Port McNeill, BC
- Pacific Orca Lodge on Swanson Island
- Maggy Point Base Camp on Crease Island
- Hanson HideAway Base Camp on Hanson Island
Purpose: To assist the Lead Guide and the companies operations with all expedition functions including customer service, client care and expedition preparation.
Duties and Tasks (responsible for but not limited to):
- Assist the Lead Guide in all expedition functions (camp, lodge and land based)
- Organise all expedition equipment on arrival at camps/lodge (Mon, Wed, Fri)
- Attend pre trip client briefing meetings (Sun evenings in Port McNeill)
- Plan food requirements according to client’s needs and menus.
- Inform the Lead Guide of any client issues and operational concerns.
- Maintain regular communications with the Expeditions Director
- Conduct daily client briefings on kayak routes and points of interest.
- Camp/lodge security: Overnight stock protection and securing equipment.
- Food preparation, clean up, general cleaning.
- Safety at camp sites/lodge.
- Safety on the water
- Client care

Kayak Operations Support Guide
Title: Kayak Operations Support Guide
Reports to: Expeditions Director
Based at:
- Haida Way Inn, Port McNeill, BC
- Pacific Orca Lodge on Swanson Island
- Maggy Point Base Camp on Crease Island
- Hanson HideAway Base Camp on Hanson Island
Purpose: To support the kayak guiding operation and assist all expedition functions.
Duties and Tasks (responsible for but not limited to):
- Support the guides in all expedition functions (camp, lodge and land based)
- Maintain an up to date stock inventory at base camps and lodge.
- Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the company motorboat.
- Organise all expedition equipment to be in place before clients arrive (Weekends)
- Relocate clients baggage to and from camp sites (Wednesdays)
- Inform the Lead Guide of any client issues and operational concerns.
- Report to Expeditions Director of any equipment defects, inventory issues and operational concerns (Weekend)
- Maintain regular communications with the Expeditions Director
- Camp/lodge security: Overnight stock protection and securing equipment.
- Laundry, food shopping and safety checks when required.
- Food preparation, clean up, general cleaning.
- Safety at camp sites/lodge.
- Safety on the water
- Client care
Compensation:
- Wages start based on current industry standard and the final wages are determined based on experience and other factors discussed during the interview process.
